Some thoughts need room to breathe. They don’t arrive when we’re staring at a blank screen, willing inspiration to strike. They show up on back roads, during evening walks, while folding laundry, or somewhere between one draft and the next.
I’ve been thinking a lot about growth lately—how creativity evolves, how our ambitions change, and how we slowly become versions of ourselves we never could have predicted.
That’s the spirit behind this month’s Writers’ Room playlist. Long Drives and Second Drafts is filled with songs about change, perspective, reinvention, and possibility. The kind of music that keeps you company while you’re figuring things out.
Because creativity isn’t a straight line, and neither is life. Sometimes the best thing you can do is keep moving, stay curious, and trust that the next version of the story is still being written.
Whether you’re taking the long way home, working through a stubborn draft, or simply giving yourself a little space to think, I hope these songs meet you where you are.
Happy listening.
